Spring Gardening Class

Due to the popularity of Slow Food Dallas' 2009 gardening class at North Haven Gardens, we are planning 3 new classes for 2010. The first class will be held in January to inspire you to prepare your garden for the new season and get it started.

THE SPRING VEGETABLE GARDEN by Christine Hensley TCNP, NHG

January is the time to think about homegrown vegetables for spring! Now in the garden, you should be building new beds, prepping your current beds, and selecting what veggies to plant. January is the time to plant potatoes, asparagus, horseradish, onions and more. Plus, you can begin to think about seeding spring tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, spinach, leeks and rutabaga. With the right tips, growing your own food can be easy, satisfying, healthy and environmentally responsible.

Christine Hensley has been with North Haven Gardens for more than 5 years. She has a degree in horticulture from Texas A&M and is a Texas Certified Nursery Professional. Among her many duties at North Haven Gardens, Christine is in charge of the year round, onsite, working vegetable garden.

Hope to see you there!
